Susan Allick Beach is a graduate of Boston University and a 10th generation Massachusetts native transplanted to the Caribbean to teach science in St. Croix since1980. She retired after 35 years with the Virgin Islands Department of Education. Ghosts in my DNA-Past lives of Boston is a journey into her genealogy to introduce her children to their New England ancestors. The search found many little-known and uplifting stories of Black history and her family’s choices to support civil rights from the 1850’s to 1960’s.
