Laura Celise Lippman

Laura Celise Lippman writes poetry. Her latest works, published by BookHouse, are "The Catastrophist’s Daughter" and "My Radioactive Heart." Her books feature poems about childhood, medical school, nature, politics and aging. "My Radioactive Heart" tends more toward memoir. Her poems have been published in over 40 poetry journals. She was a featured poet in the journal Synchroniciti, and her work has been featured in Seattle’s Poetry on Buses. Her poems have been included in Grief, Age Love, Poems for the Autumn Years, 2025. She is coauthor of the book "Writing While Masked," Reflections on 2020 and Beyond.

Before retiring, Lippman practiced family medicine for 40 years in North Seattle and Edmonds, WA. She was an instructor in the department of Family Medicine at the University of Washington Medical School. She attended Bryn Mawr College, the University of Oregon and received her M.D. from Drexel University School of Medicine.

In addition to her work in medicine, she continues citizen science participation, doing surveys for the Sea Star Wasting Disease Survey, (2013) and is currently contributing to the Invasive Green Crab Detection program through Washington State University. She is a certified Native Plant Steward.

She is married and has two children and four grandchildren. She commutes between her homes in Seattle, WA, and Vashon Island.
