Nicole Faustini is the author and researcher behind Lineage Living, devoted to recovering practical knowledge that once kept people fed and independent — before supermarkets made it easy to forget. Writing as Nicole Faires, she's authored six books with Skyhorse Publishing, including the bestselling Ultimate Guide to Homesteading and Food Confidential, an investigation into corporate control of the food system.
Her approach is rooted in lived experience. Raised on a hobby farm in rural Montana, she later lived off-grid in a converted school bus, then owned and operated a Certified Naturally Grown CSA farm on Vancouver Island. She hosted apprentices through Stewards of Irreplaceable Land (SOIL) and served as a peer inspector within the CNG network.
Nicole believes historical knowledge has to be tested, not just studied — her research into permaculture and traditional food systems comes from decades of growing, preserving, and living it. Lineage Living is where that work continues: books, workshops, and handmade goods for anyone curious about the old ways — and why they still matter.
