BIOGRAPHY

Eric Purdy is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, and U.S. Army veteran, with a diverse professional background that spans marketing, sales, graphic design, sports journalism, and restaurant management. A former Gold Glove champion in two weight classes, Eric also served as an executive game master for the professional World of Warcraft guilds Esprit and Honestly for three years following his military service.

Eric's passion for storytelling has been lifelong. He began handwriting short stories at the age of eight and has since earned top honors in more than 75 competitions. All Eric's work that is currently being released, was hand-written throughout 25 years of military service, now finally being typeset for readers to enjoy.

Recently, Eric expanded into cinematic development after several publishers and readers noted that his writing is highly adaptable for the screen. He uses cutting-edge software — including Nuke Foundry (CGI), Blender, and Adobe Firefly, Illustrator, and Photoshop — to develop cinematic trailers and advertisements in support of his work as an author.

He is the founder of his own publishing imprint, Dark Tales and Mysteries for the Screen. He plans to expand the brand into a coalition of independent writers operating under one banner, supported by his financial resources, marketing experience, and ability to develop cinematics — offering them a unified platform at no cost.

Originally from Bethesda, Maryland, Eric now resides in Utah. Eric spent his high‑school years working the pineapple fields of Maui and the orange groves of Tampa—experiences that shaped his work ethic and broadened his sense of place. His lifelong fascination with history—particularly the American Civil War, Vietnam War, World War II, the Crusades, the Mexican‑American War, and the Alamo—continues to influence his writing. This passion culminates in his upcoming Civil War drama series, The Tigers (TBA).

Eric is known for his natural cinematic writing style, achieved without formal screenwriting training. Readers often describe his work as “like watching a film on the page,” a testament to his instinctive sense of pacing, atmosphere, and visual storytelling.
