D. L. Lutero

D. L. Lutero (Dennis) is a Bible teacher and biblical performer with a primary focus on the New Testament letters of Paul, and a special interest in the Letter to the Romans. A lifelong student of the Bible, he began performing Romans in 2019, eventually arranging it into a one-act stage play. He now teaches and performs Romans in churches across a range of traditions, as well as in academic settings and other community venues. His performances and research take a close look at the language, rhetoric, and original audiences of the letter, with the conviction that this famous letter is best heard in its first-century context.

Dennis holds a Master of Arts in Religion (Biblical Studies) from Trinity Anglican Seminary and has presented his research at regional and international meetings of the Society of Biblical Literature. He also holds degrees from Old Dominion University (MS, Education) and Virginia Tech (BS, Psychology). Alongside his work in Biblical Studies, he spent more than two decades managing projects and programs for several large federal contractors and was a U.S. Naval Officer prior to that. Dennis lives with his wife and three dogs in Virginia.
