Matthew S. Short

Dr. Matthew Scott Short is a Texas educator, author, speaker, and educational consultant with more than thirteen years of experience in K–12 education. He holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and has served as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, clinical field supervisor, and mentor to developing educators.

His work focuses on classroom culture, student belonging, educator sustainability, literacy, gifted education, and practical leadership. He is the creator of the S.H.O.R.T. Method, a framework built around Structure, Humor, Ownership, Relationships, and Trust. His writing challenges educators to reject burnout and performative martyrdom while building classrooms where students feel seen, supported, and capable.

Dr. Short has presented at state and national education conferences, served on education advisory and curriculum committees, and supported more than one hundred teacher candidates through coaching and field supervision. He is also a Ron Clark Academy Global Ambassador and the founder of ShortEd Solutions, an education consulting and professional learning company.

Through his books, presentations, and consulting work, Dr. Short combines research, personal experience, humor, and practical strategies to help educators create schools where both students and teachers can thrive.
