Anthony Power

Born in Lancashire, Anthony Power is a medical graduate of University College, Cork, Ireland. His mother was a York-born Milburn, and he is a great-great-grand-nephew of George Walker Milburn.

His research on Milburn helped in the placing of a plaque, by York Civic Trust, on the site of Milburn’s stoneyard at Bootham Bar, York. He is the co-author, with the late Dick Reid O.B.E, of The Day Book of George Walker Milburn, York Sculptor and Carver (York Historian, vol 33, 2017), and author of an off-shoot of the major works, The Russian Spy and Other Cemetery Tales: The Works of George Walker Milburn in York Cemetery.

After many years working in Newfoundland, the Middle East, and Ireland, he now lives, with his wife, in Cork. He is presently working on a biography of Milburn: York’s Forgotten Sculptor.
