Betsy Saunders

Well, here I am at 80 years old beginning the new adventure of publishing a book. I was a teacher of small children for 40+ years and an avid birder, so writing a children’s book about searching for a wood duck was right down my alley. Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia I have spent many hours along the James River. I have hiked the Shenandoah mountains, canoed Virginia’s rivers and explored her swamps. At the ripe old age of 44, I became a certified scuba diver…but that’s another story. As I have gotten older, my hikes have become strolls, and my canoeing dependent on strong young arms to carry the boat. My diving days ended a year ago. But I can still bird, because birds are everywhere….if you just know how to look.
