Andrew Roache writes for Lantern Path Books, an independent Australian children's picture book imprint making calm, cosy stories for ages 2 to 7.

His gentle bedtime and slice-of-life picture books are made for the end of the day and the small moments in between, the soft, unhurried kind of read you reach for when the day has been loud. They follow a cast of warm original characters: Oliver the Owl, who notices the world's small wonders; Hazel the Hedgehog, who meets big feelings with quiet courage; Pip the Wombat, who keeps on trying; Bramble the Tortoise, who takes life slowly; and Fenn the Otter, who learns to share.

Screen-free and made to be read aloud, they're written for tired parents and carers, and a gentle fit for teachers and librarians too. Nothing here is ever in a hurry.
