Richard Schofield is a retired Merchant Mariner, U.S. Navy veteran, and lifelong student of the prehistoric world. Now living in Central Florida, he spent years wondering whether he could survive if he woke up twenty thousand years in the past with nothing but sticks, stones, and whatever knowledge he carried in his head.
That question eventually grew into The Bone of the Moons. What began as a thought experiment became a journey into Ice Age survival, early human innovation, and the struggles of people trying to build a future in a dangerous world. His fascination with archaeology, anthropology, and the lives of our distant ancestors continues to inspire his writing.
Schofield is currently working on additional novels set in the same prehistoric world, following new generations as they explore, trade, compete, and discover what it means to become a people.
The Bone of the Moons is available now on Amazon, with a Spanish edition also available. Book Two, The Dream Land, is coming June 30, 2026. Book Three is in planning for 2027. If you read it, you’ll like it.
