Bec Woods writes quiet dystopian fiction about systems that don’t fail. They succeed. Her debut novel, The Quiet Held, opens The Quiet Trilogy: a controlled city, a measured survival, and a system that optimises resistance away until acceptance needs no force at all.

She came to fiction after two decades in community services, where she learned how institutional language works. How policy speaks. How wide the gap runs between what a system says and what it does to the people inside it. That knowledge shapes every page.

Bec lives in the Whitsundays in North Queensland. She runs a not-for-profit, shares her desk with a cheeky spoodle and an anxious rescue labradoodle, and writes in the quiet hours before the day starts. She has wanted to be a writer since she was sixteen.

The Quiet Held is available now. Book Two publishes October 2, 2026. She is currently writing Book Three.
