M. J. Bates is a UK-based fantasy and supernatural thriller author with a love of ancient myths, hidden worlds, and stories where the ordinary begins to unravel into something much darker.

His debut novel, An Old God Awakens, blends modern-day mystery, forgotten gods, psychological tension, and supernatural danger beneath the streets of London.

When he is not writing or working, he enjoys travelling around the UK with his husband and their two dogs, usually with music, podcasts, or the next story idea keeping him company.
