Amy Sobrino is a licensed clinical social worker who has worked within a variety of settings including crisis helplines, long-term care communities, higher education, libraries, and non-profit organizations. After her experience caring for her grandmother who lived with Alzheimer’s disease, Amy and her mom Shannon founded Effingham Area Alzheimer’s Awareness, a nonprofit organization that delivered rural specific dementia programming and content from 2013-2023. Their dementia education resource centers can be found in libraries across central Illinois. Amy was recognized for this advocacy and innovative work as a recipient of the 2019 Saint Louis University Young Alumni Award and Alexander J. Skrzypek Award.
Amy operates Sobrino Counseling PLLC, a counseling practice that supports adults in Illinois and Missouri. In her practice, she supports anyone who is looking to explore a new role, identity, or challenging life situation, especially caregivers, parents, and older adults. Amy partners with nonprofit organizations to deliver education programs on a variety of topics relating to health, well-being, dementia, and caregiving. Outside of work, Amy loves exploring new and familiar places, trying out new recipes or restaurants, and spending time with the people she loves the most.
