Dr. Bernd Guzek

Bernd Guzek, MD, PhD, is a licensed physician, publisher, and science journalist. After completing his medical studies in Hamburg and earning his doctorate in ophthalmology, he founded his own publishing company together with his wife, bestselling author Gaby Guzek. Several magazines and online portals emerged from this publishing house.

For many years, he has devoted himself almost entirely to the topic of alcohol and addiction — not only as a physician, but also as a family member affected by it. Together with his wife Gaby Guzek, he runs German- and English-language online forums that provide those affected with well-founded, neurobiologically grounded information and a supportive community.

His books combine medical expertise with a clear understanding of the medical and biochemical mechanisms behind addiction and dependency — written in an accessible way for people who truly want to understand what is happening in their brain.
