Hi, I’m Dan — a freelance editor, writer and English teacher based close to Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Originally from Yorkshire in the UK, I’ve been working independently since 2015, supporting a range of clients with editing, teaching and language-focused projects, with a particular focus on TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).
I moved to Germany in 2014 after completing a bachelor’s degree in German and Mathematics at the University of Exeter. As part of my studies, I spent a year abroad teaching English at a comprehensive school in Hanover from September 2012 until June 2013, which was where my interest in language teaching really began.
Later, I completed a master’s degree in Language Technology and Foreign Language Teaching at Justus-Liebig University in Gießen, graduating in 2019.
What I enjoy most about working with language is understanding how it actually works. As a native speaker, I don’t just rely on instinct — I aim to explain grammar and usage clearly and logically, and to find answers when something isn’t immediately obvious.
