Thomas B. Polvogt III

Thomas “Thom” Polvogt is a Christian author, storyteller, mentor, and lifelong student of the Bible and Christian worldview. His relationship with God is the foundation of his life, and for more than six decades he has sought to follow Christ with gratitude, conviction, humor, and an enduring interest in the people and stories around him. Before becoming an author, Thom served in ministry for approximately thirteen years and later built a successful insurance agency, which he owned for nearly three decades before selling it in 2022. That new season of life gave him the opportunity to pursue a longtime gift for storytelling. Encouraged by his children and grandchildren to write down the stories he had shared over the years, Thom began writing novels that combine memorable characters, meaningful relationships, faith, friendship, and the lessons people discover through life’s challenges. His books include Joseph’s Stepfather, Possum Scale, Cold Blooded Justice, and Cold Blooded Friendship. Thom also wrote an autobiographical work for readers who want to know more about the experiences, faith, family, and life journey behind his storytelling. While he is modest about his writing, he believes deeply in the power of a good story especially one that carries a point and leaves readers thinking. Relationships are central to both Thom’s life and his fiction. He believes that friendship, mentorship, honest conversation, and strong one-to-one connections are among the things that make life meaningful. His stories often reflect those convictions, exploring the importance of loyalty, encouragement, faithfulness, and the ways people help one another through difficult seasons. Thom was married to his beloved wife for more than fifty-five years before she passed away in 2024. He is the proud father of four exceptional daughters and has seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Family, friendship, church life, Bible study, and mentoring younger men continue to be important parts of his daily life. He is a graduate of Colorado Christian University and earned a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado. He also holds several professional insurance designations, including CLU, ChFC, CFP, RHU, and LUTCF. Thom is a Colson Fellow and has served on leadership teams teaching Biblical Worldviews for several years. During his business career, he also served on charitable boards and participated in mission trips to countries including Tanzania, China, Argentina, Brazil, Romania, England, Moldova, and Jamaica. When he is not writing, studying, attending men’s groups, participating in church activities, or spending time with family and friends, Thom may be found wearing his familiar hat and vest or riding his 2024 Honda GoldWing motorcycle. His life verse is Colossians 2:6–7, a reminder to remain rooted in Christ, established in faith, and overflowing with gratitude. Thom’s goal is simple: to finish strong, keep learning, and continue encouraging the people God places in his life.
