Jeffrey Ting

Jeffrey Ting is an academic at a university in the Midlands of the UK, where he has taught across areas including web development, data science, mobile development, security, automotive software development, and artificial intelligence. He has also previously held senior academic and leadership roles at other universities, including interim roles as deputy head of school and head of department.

Before and alongside his academic work, Jeffrey spent several years in software development, systems management, project management, IT security, consultancy, and technology ventures. His four-decade career has moved between software development, technical leadership, technology evangelism, and organisational management at various levels. This has given him the sort of practical exposure to leadership, politics, ambition, competence, failure, institutional oddities, and human behaviour that no respectable textbook could safely admit to providing.

His technical background spans software engineering, cybersecurity, databases, web and mobile development, artificial intelligence, cloud and distributed systems, and rather more programming languages and technologies than is probably healthy to list in polite company.
