Dr. Mark A. Horne, pastor of Andrews Presbyterian Church, is a devoted servant of God with over two decades of experience revitalizing churches. Born and raised in Abbeville, SC, he is a covenant child of the PCA and a graduate of Erskine College with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. After six years as a textile engineer at Milliken & Co., he answered the Lord's call to preach the gospel. He has served four separate calls and was bi-vocational as a public middle school teacher for ten years.
Dr. Horne earned an MDiv degree from Erskine Theological Seminary, Due West, SC, and has served as a church revitalizing pastor in Anderson and Newberry, where Embers to a Flame, now Lampstand, and biblical counseling played a significant part in his philosophy of ministry. He assumed a pivotal role as the organizing pastor of a church plant in Myrtle Beach, SC. In June 2019, Rev. Horne and his family relocated to Andrews, SC, following his acceptance of the call to pastor Andrews PCA. He finished his Doctor of Ministry degree in 2024 from Birmingham Theological Seminary, Birmingham, AL, of which his dissertation is titled, "The Impact of the Contribution of Biblical Counseling within a Contextualization Model of a Developing Church Revitalization or Church Planting Work: A Paradigm from Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians." He currently is in progress of obtaining his PhD from Columbia International University, Columbia, SC.
A devoted family man, Dr. Horne has been married to his wife, Lisa, for over 28 years, and they are proud parents to three children: Tanner (married to Madison), Jonathan (married to Mary), and Katherine. Currently incorporating the Billy Rufus Biblical Counseling and Teaching Center as an outreach ministry of Andrews PCA, Dr. Horne continues to dedicate his life to spreading the message of Jesus Christ and serving God's people.
