Jacqueline Harris is the author of Lancashire Folktales and a writer, storyteller and theatre maker who has spent over 25 years exploring why we tell the stories we do — as folktales, fiction, or the real-life narratives that shape a life. She holds a Research Master's from the University of Edinburgh's Scottish Studies Department, where she studied how stories move through society, and her practice blends original writing, oral storytelling and gathered testimony.
Her other books include The White Dobbie: Story and Landscape, a collaboration with Dutch sculptor Marjan Wouda reimagining a Cumbrian folktale was funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign. Her collaborative works — including Where We Land, In Skriker's Footsteps and Gathered Tales of Lancashire — have taken folklore into theatre, film and installation.
Jacqueline lives and works between Lancashire and Scotland, and continues to ask the question at the heart of all her work: how do story and life talk to each other?
