Rob Maclean is the founder of the Team Australia international driver development program, established in 1994 to help young Australian racing drivers compete in Europe on the world stage.
Working from Tasmania, Rob built one of Australia’s earliest internationally focused motorsport pathways, helping create opportunities for drivers including Marcos Ambrose, Jason Bargwanna, Paul Stokell, Stephen White, Phillip Scifleet and many others during their rise through international motorsport.
Drawing inspiration from his years working around Team Lotus and the Formula Opel/EFDA system in Europe, Rob developed a unique “national team” approach that combined driver development, presentation, sponsorship, and international networking long before modern driver academies became common.
Chasing the Dream shares the real story behind the Team Australia journey — the risks, sacrifices, relationships, and determination required to take Australian talent onto the world stage.
