Lisa Akers is a Chief Engineer for the Artemis II mission, where she helps design the systems that will return humans to the Moon for the first time in over fifty years. But her path to the launchpad didn’t begin in a lab; it began in a literature classroom.

An English major turned aerospace leader, Lisa discovered early in her career that while equations are fixed, the people solving them are profoundly unpredictable. After three decades in high-stakes environments—from the US Air Force Academy to Lockheed Martin and eventually the Orion human spaceflight program—she realized that the most common cause of technical failure wasn't a lack of engineering brilliance, but a collapse in human architecture.

Nearly burning out as the go-to fixer for every organizational crisis, Lisa developed the Emotional Architecture framework to help technical leaders stop performing heroics and start building resilient, self-sustaining teams. Her methods have been proven in the most rigorous environments imaginable, resulting in a 40% reduction in error rates, 90% accuracy in timeline estimates, and double the problem-solving speed by focusing on the human variable.
