Dawn Wever

Dawn Wever is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has spent her career treating clients, teaching professionals, and advocating for mental health legislation and systemic change.

Since 2009, she has trained therapists across Florida, served as the primary Crisis Intervention instructor for several law enforcement agencies, and successfully worked on mental health legislation that passed unanimously through the Florida House and Senate. A former President of NAMI Hernando, Dawn’s insights have been featured in Hernando Today, where she began as a contributing writer in 2014.

In September 2024, Dawn’s life was shattered when her daughter, Hannah, passed away in a tragic accident.

Yet, even in her passing, Hannah’s profound generosity lived on through her ultimate gift of life to others as an organ and cornea donor.

Having spent over a decade helping clients navigate trauma, Dawn suddenly found herself walking the excruciating path of profound, traumatic grief; a deeply personal journey she recently shared on a podcast to help others facing similar losses.

Determined to ensure that Hannah's legacy of giving, empathy, and joy continued to make an impact, Dawn founded the 501(c)(3) nonprofit, The Heartprint Foundation, and authored the children’s book series Hannah and the Story Squad.

The community response has been tremendous: the debut book was a #1 New Release on Amazon, and in August 2025, Dawn hosted a completely sold-out community book signing to honor Hannah’s first heavenly birthday.

Today, the series is cataloged in the public library system, is actively being read across the United States, and has been utilized as classroom curriculum.

Dawn continues her private practice in Florida and shares her home with Hannah’s dog, Franky, the Story Squad Ambassadog.
