He holds a Doctorate of Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary and has spent his career helping individuals and communities think more deeply about meaning, vocation, resilience, and service.

Over the years, Kumar has served in a wide range of ministry, educational, and leadership settings. His experience includes pastoral ministry, hospice chaplaincy, bereavement leadership, teaching, writing, public speaking, and supervising trainees in Clinical Pastoral Education. As a CPE Diplomate Supervisor, he is committed to helping chaplains and ministry leaders grow in self-awareness, pastoral identity, emotional intelligence, and the ability to offer compassionate care in complex human situations.

Kumar has also taught university courses in religion, theology, and branding, bringing a unique interdisciplinary lens to the classroom. His teaching often explores the connection between belief, identity, communication, and leadership. Whether working with students, chaplains, congregations, or professional audiences, he seeks to create learning spaces that are thoughtful, practical, and transformative.

In addition to his teaching and supervisory work, Kumar is a published author of five books. For ten years, he also wrote a monthly magazine column, developing a voice that is reflective, accessible, and rooted in lived experience. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kumar discovered unexpected sources of renewal through birdwatching and gardening. What began as unlikely hobbies became meaningful practices of attention, patience, and wonder. These experiences continue to shape his appreciation for nature, stillness, and the quiet ways life teaches us to grow.

Across his work, Kumar remains passionate about formation, faith, communication, and helping people live with greater purpose, compassion, and hope.
