Giampaolo Proni

Giampaolo Proni was born in 1955 in Faenza and lives in Rimini.

During his academic training, he studied under Umberto Eco and Massimo A. Bonfantini, and later taught at the Milan Polytechnic and the University of Bologna.

As a researcher, he has devoted himself to the study of C.S. Peirce (1839–1914), the most original and prolific American philosopher, founder of semiotics and pragmatism. He has published books and academic articles on Peirce. Another area of interest is the semiotics of design, the analysis of spaces and consumer behaviour, and commercial discourse.

As a writer, he published *I vampiri* in 1982, which he printed and distributed himself. In 1988, *Asia* was released on a floppy disk by FreeBook Editions, revised and published by Bollati Boringhieri in 1989 under the title *Il caso del computer Asia*. Two further novels complete the AI trilogy: La dea digitale (Fazi, 2000) and Digit_Zero (Aracne, 2008). The three works were subsequently republished by Antonio Tombolini Editore.

Published in 1993 is L’indagine di Maria H., Signorelli Editore, a crime novel for young adults.

Le Fedeli d’Amore was released on Amazon on 18 May 2026 in ebook format, the first volume of a new trilogy entirely different from his previous works. The paperback edition will follow shortly.
