After many years as a drug enforcement officer with the police, I decided to trade the pursuit of external success for a journey within. A major heart surgery and a subsequent burnout forced me to pause – a turning point that led me to train as a therapist and, ultimately, to find myself. Today, I combine the intense experiences of my time in service with the healing power of writing. My travels to La Gomera, Namibia, and repeatedly to Scotland are far more than mere changes of scenery for me; they are expeditions to my own soul.
In the stillness following this upheaval, a deep interest in Scotch whisky awoke – guided by pure intuition. It was the birth of my love for the Isle of Islay.
In my works, I weave the facets of a turbulent life with the power of literary reflection. As a former investigator and passionate globetrotter, I have gathered borderline experiences that now form the foundation of my travel narratives. My autobiographically inspired novels and novellas move within the tension between reality and fiction. I use my experiences and encounters as a creative compass to illuminate universal themes such as childhood conditioning, emotional letting go, loneliness, and the search for connection in trauma-informed stories. I want to inspire others on their path to self-discovery and encourage them to embrace the venture of life. I express this self-experience, with all its facets and inner struggles, authentically in my works.
I remain deeply connected to my "Queen of the Hebrides" in my heart: I visit her every year, which is why, alongside my personal travelogues, I will be presenting an annually updated edition of my Islay travel guide, Islay At its Best.
