Eva N. Gallo writes picture books for children who notice things: the shadow on the wall, the bird on the windowsill, the small moments most people walk past.

Before she was an author, Eva spent thirty years in public health. When she retired, she became a full-time grandmother to two granddaughters with an appetite for stories. Every night she reaches back to her childhood — the memories with her mother and her aunt, the lessons passed down without anyone calling them lessons.

She has been thinking about kindness for a long time. About the specific bravery of choosing to help someone who hasn't been kind to you. About the fact that you never know what you are starting.

The Eva Gallo Collection is a line of multicultural standalone picture books for ages 3 to 8. Each book begins in night and ends in morning. The name "Gallo" — rooster in Italian and Spanish — is the voice that calls the world from night into dawn. The first book in the Collection is The Adventures of Maya's Shadow. More titles are on the way, each with a new child, a new neighborhood, and a new small magic to notice.
