Sherma Maynard

Sherma C. Maynard was born on the beautiful West

Indies Island of Trinidad and Tobago. At the age of eight,

she relocated with her family to St. Croix in the United States

Virgin Islands. As the third of six children born to Errol and

Minerva Maynard, Sherma often considered herself the

quietest among her siblings.

She faced significant challenges in her early years,

particularly with reading and comprehension. It wasn’t until

her first year at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, that

she was diagnosed with dyslexia, a learning disorder that

affects reading and understanding. This discovery only

strengthened her resolve to succeed and graduate from

college.

At fourteen, Sherma made a life-changing commitment

to follow God, a decision that profoundly shaped her future.

By seventeen, she answered the call to evangelism and began

preaching at the New Testament Church of God in Brooklyn,

New York, under the mentorship of Bishop U. Grey and his

wife, Josephine Grey. Throughout her early ministry, she

was blessed to receive guidance and support from several

influential leaders, including the late Pastor A. Palmer, the

late Bishop Eric Gaskin and his wife, Mary, Bishop E. Grey,

the late Pastor W. Scotland, and Bishop L. Hamilton.

Sherma has remained a dedicated member of both the

Church of God and the Church of God of Prophecy,

faithfully contributing to each community she has served.

Her ministry has taken her across the United States and the

Caribbean, where she has led revivals, crusades, seminars,

and conventions. She has also had the privilege of preaching

the gospel internationally, ministering in Israel, Africa,

China, Paris, and Santo Domingo.

She is the co-founder of Spirit-Empowered Ministries

and the daughters of the King Women Empowerment

Fellowship, a radio program reaching audiences throughout

the Caribbean and the United States. Sherma holds a degree

from Lee University and attended the School of Theology

for a year. She is a licensed minister with the Church of God

of Prophecy and an ordained minister with Independent

Christian Churches International.

Sherma is passionate about transforming the body of

Christ and equipping this generation to walk boldly in their

God-given purpose.
