KV Rao spent more than four decades inside the operating rooms of modern enterprise — building and running systems across telecommunications, banking, and IT. He has now turned that same operator's eye toward something far closer to home: the health, happiness, and inner life of dogs.

His Healthy Paws Kitchen series — 15 books and growing — was born from a simple belief: that what a dog eats is the foundation of everything. Written for everyday dog owners rather than veterinary professionals, the series covers homemade nutrition, condition-specific healing meals, senior care, treats, and more.

But it was Oscar who changed everything.

Oscar is a 12-year-old Yellow Labrador who has lived beside KV Rao since he was one month old. Watching Oscar watch him — reading every mood, anticipating every move, communicating without a single word — sparked a question that wouldn't leave: what is your dog actually trying to tell you?

That question became the Oscar Speaks series, published under Oscar's own name. Because some things are best said by the dog himself.

KV Rao lives in Hyderabad, India, where Oscar holds the position of Chairman of the household and has not once relinquished it.
