During a year of chemotherapy and recovery, Carlos's grandson Sebastian — nicknamed Seabass — became an unexpected roommate and an even more unexpected lifeline. While Carlos slept in the low bed and Seabass claimed the top bunk, a story began to take shape in the quiet between them, built from late nights, shared laughter, and a bond that grew stronger with every passing day. It didn't hurt that they share the same birthday.

Carlos is the proud father of three and grandfather of six, and believes that the greatest adventure a person can pass down is the love of a good story.
