Jeff Schlanger

Jeff Schlanger is a former Manhattan prosecutor, public-sector reform leader, and founder of IntegrAssure, a firm focused on police oversight, accountability, and risk management. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he has worked inside some of the nation’s most consequential justice and public-safety institutions.

As an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan, Schlanger investigated and prosecuted organized-crime cases involving the Westies and John Gotti. He later helped lead the federal monitorship of the Los Angeles Police Department following the Rampart scandal, served in senior leadership roles at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the New York City Police Department, and became the NYPD’s first Deputy Commissioner for Risk Management.

In his later work, Schlanger has served as an independent monitor and police auditor, helping agencies confront risk, improve accountability, and strengthen public trust. Doing Right is his memoir of a life spent at the intersection of crime, power, institutional failure, reform, and the continuing effort to pursue justice when the choices are difficult and the stakes are high.
