G.S. Howe

G. S. Howe (Andrew Bowers) is a United States Army combat veteran, former Staff Sergeant (SSG), and Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) recipient with more than twenty years of combined military and federal healthcare experience. A disabled veteran, he brings a rare dual perspective—having lived the system from both sides as both patient and professional.

He is the author of the G. S. Howe Federal Healthcare Survival Guide Series, a living body of work examining the Veterans Health Administration under real-world conditions. Grounded exclusively in publicly available federal records, his work focuses on workforce attrition, system fragmentation, community care, electronic health record modernization, caregiver burden, and the persistent gap between policy intent and lived experience.

The name G. S. Howe honors his grandfather, a Korean War veteran who instilled a lifelong commitment to service, integrity, and responsibility.
