Shere L.H. McClamb

Hi, I'm Shere — a lifelong learner, technology enthusiast, and educator who genuinely believes that anyone can master the tools they need to do great work. Whether that means building a beautiful website from scratch or navigating the complexities of managing a high-stakes project, I've spent my career making sure that people have the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to succeed. My books were born out of years of watching bright, motivated people feel intimidated by technology and methodology that really doesn't have to be so complicated. I write because I want every reader to walk away with that "I've got this" feeling.

My journey into technology started with an Associate of Applied Science in Network Administration and Support, and grew into a Bachelor of Science in Management and Organizational Development, and ultimately a Doctor of Philosophy in Information Technology from Capella University. Along the way, I've had the privilege of teaching Web Technologies — including HTML, CSS, and WordPress — through the Wake County Public School System's Community Services program, and served as an Adjunct Web and Graphic Design Instructor at Johnston Community College for nearly a decade. I've also taught project management through adult continuing education, covering everything from scope and scheduling to cost management and quality. Teaching has always been at the heart of what I do, and every book I write is really just a classroom without walls.

Professionally, I've spent over two decades working at the intersection of technology, leadership, and public service — supporting state agencies across North Carolina including the Department of Public Instruction, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Information Technology. I hold several certifications that reflect my commitment to doing work that is rigorous, thoughtful, and results-driven: Project Management Professional (PMP®, July 2016), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP®), ASQ Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), ITIL® Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management (October 2018), and a Graduate Certificate in Servant Leadership from Gonzaga University (May 2010). I've been a proud member of the Project Management Institute since 2016.

My published works reflect the two great passions of my professional life — web technology and project management. My three-book WordPress series — Creating a Website Using WordPress: The Beginner's Guide, Making Your WordPress Site Awesome: The Intermediate Guide, and Managing Your WordPress Site with HTML & CSS: The Advanced Guide — takes readers from their very first login all the way through advanced customization, meeting them exactly where they are. My project management book, Managing Project ComplexITy Using the Project Management Trifecta: Project Management, Agile, and Lean Six Sigma, brings together three powerhouse frameworks — the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), Agile, and Lean Six Sigma — into one cohesive, practical guide for getting projects across the finish line.

Just like a boxed trifecta in horse racing — where the first, second, and third place winners can cross the finish line in any order — I believe that Project Management, Agile, and Lean Six Sigma are each winners in their own right, and together they dramatically increase the likelihood of project success. Whether you're a seasoned project manager looking for a refresher, or someone brand new to leading projects, Managing Project ComplexITy gives you a toolbox of scalable tools and techniques that work regardless of your project's size or complexity. Because at the end of the day, technology should work for people — and so should the way we manage our work. I hope you'll find these books as enjoyable to read as they were to write. Welcome to the journey!
