H Allan Gandy

H. Allan Gandy is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where he earned a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He has been a resident of Benicia, California, for 49 years and has a keen interest in the city's history. Gandy serves as a docent and research associate at the Museum of History Benicia.

He has authored several works about Benicia's local history:

- The Sandstone Powder Magazine at the Benicia Arsenal, Benicia's Little-Known Gem

- The Clock Tower, A History of Benicia's Mighty Fortress

- Captain Matthew Turner, World-Class Shipbuilder

- The Historic Solano and Contra Costa Ferries: 1879 to 1930

- Rancho Suscol: California’s Forgotten Rancho.

Allan is proud to live in Benicia, where the Solano and Contra Costa ferries sailed the waters of the Carquinez Strait over 100 years ago.
