Rooted in the red clay and rich traditions of south Georgia, I was raised in the close-knit community of Millen—a small town tucked between Statesboro and Augusta. Surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and my parents, I grew up in a family where stories were shared as freely as meals, and where life’s most important lessons were often taught without a classroom.
Holidays were never just dates on a calendar—they were gatherings in Emmalane, just outside of Millen, filled with laughter, tradition, and the kind of memories that shape a lifetime. It was in this quiet, “sleepy” town that I learned the values of faith, family, resilience, and humor—lessons that would later become the backbone of my writing.
For more than 20 years, I have worked as a freelance writer, using my voice to capture everyday life in a way that resonates with readers. My journey began with a weekly column in the The Citizen News, where my storytelling quickly found an audience and became a local favorite. From What’s Up Edgefield to Editor’s Desk to Pen Strokes, my columns have consistently blended humor with heartfelt insight, offering readers both entertainment and reflection.
Through the years, my work has reached hundreds, delivering life lessons wrapped in wit, warmth, and a distinctly Southern perspective. My writing invites readers to slow down, appreciate the simple moments, and find meaning—even laughter—in the everyday.
Now, through this collection, I invite you to step into those stories. Grab the book, learn a few lessons, and most importantly—laugh a little along the way.
