W.G. Vale

W.G. Vale is the pen name of Dr. Wonedwossen Goshu, DNP, CRNA — a refugee from Ethiopia who built a life at the intersection of medicine, human suffering, and transformation.

For over two decades, he has worked inside operating rooms at institutions like MD Anderson Cancer Center and Memorial Hermann Hospital, where patients place their lives in his hands. In those moments — when everything becomes still and a human being surrenders completely — he began to notice something deeper:

People don’t struggle because life is hard.

They struggle because they are holding on to something their body was never meant to carry for so long.

And like holding your breath…

the longer you hold, the more tension builds.

You don’t release the breath.

You simply stop holding it…

and the body breathes.

That insight became the foundation of The Valve.

Beyond the operating room, Dr. Goshu has led medical missions to Ethiopia, trained physicians across continents, built healthcare businesses rooted in dignity and care, and served as Chief CRNA. His work has been recognized with the Trailblazer Award for leadership, community service, and innovation.

But his true work is not just medical.

It is human.

Drawing from decades of experience, spiritual study, and firsthand observation of suffering and healing, W.G. Vale writes about the moment when a person finally feels safe enough to let go — and what becomes possible after.

The Valve is his first book.

It is not just something he wrote.

It is something he lived.

And it is for anyone who is ready to stop holding what they were never meant to carry alone.
