Quang Ma

Quang Ma is a Vietnamese American author whose life was shaped by war, survival, and the strength of family. He was ten years old when South Vietnam fell in 1975. Nearly a decade later, he helped guide a fragile fishing boat carrying thirty-nine souls across the South China Sea in search of freedom.

After arriving in the United States in 1985, he rebuilt his life through faith, education, and perseverance, earning his pharmacy degree from Long Island University. He now serves veterans as a pharmacist at the Loma Linda VA Medical Center in California.

His memoir, Life Hanging by a Thread, honors his parents’ courage, the sacrifices made for family, and the resilience of the human spirit. Quang hopes to preserve the memories of those who suffered in silence and remind readers that some journeys continue long after reaching shore.

He is currently completing two companion books: The Turtle at Midnight and Life Hanging by a Thread: Student Discussion and Reflection Guide.
