Dr. Stephen Macht

I am Stephen Macht, an actor and ordained chaplain who has spent 84 years learning one essential truth: return is always possible.

Over decades, I have stood at the bedsides of the dying. I have presided over more than 100 funerals and weddings. I have trained in Kabbalah and Jewish spirituality. I have learned to see impurity not as identity, but as a temporary state—and forgiveness not as theory, but as lived reality.

My father died when I was nine. I spent much of my life learning what that meant. I have since learned to help others navigate their own treacherous moments—loss, grief, the belief that they have gone too far to return.

This book is my testimony. It is written for anyone who believes they cannot be forgiven, that they have destroyed themselves beyond redemption, that return is impossible. I am here to tell you: it is not.
