Matthew Larsen is a historian of ancient Christianity and the ancient Mediterranean world, specializing in the intersection of material culture and lived experience. He is Professor of New Testament and Early Christian History and Archaeology at the University of Copenhagen. His work has been featured in outlets including The New Yorker, Newsweek, CHOICE, Daily Beast, Popular Mechanics, Christian Century, and Smithsonian Magazine.
Alongside his academic work, Larsen has emerged as a public intellectual and is the founder of August Media.
