Matt Witt

Matt Witt is an Oregon-based writer and photographer. He has worked with unions and community groups organizing on climate action, housing affordability, economic and racial justice, workers’ rights, union democracy, and Indigenous rights in the US and Mexico. He is the photographer and author of "Monumental Beauty: Wonders Worth Protecting in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument," featuring 132 photographs and essays on a unique ecosystem in southern Oregon and northern California. Also author of "Make Holidays Your Own," about how to make holidays throughout the year less commercial and more meaningful, inclusive, and fun. Also author of "In Our Blood," a book about coal mining families and communities from Appalachia to Black Mesa. His documentary, "4 Dollars a Day? No Way!: Joining Hands Across the Border," tells the story of workers organizing across Mexico, the US, and Canada for better conditions. His writing has appeared in the LA Times, NY Times, and many other publications.
