I have a scientific academic background - three degrees and varied teaching in a university computer science department. In 2017 I published a book on cognitive science called The Sequential Imperative.
In the last 20 years or so I have focused my research work on Searching for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) although I am coming to prefer the idea that we should Search for ET Behaviour.
My recently completed novel - The Colours of Speech - may yet have a sequel (it contains pointers to what that would likely cover). It is a science fiction novel which combines real science with imaginary science, as is necessary when writing about time travel. The heroine's adventures and love-life provide a balance to the science.
The novel is dedicated to my sister, who wrote successful novels under various names: Elizabeth Edmondson; Elizabeth Aston; Elizabeth Pewsey. Her plot style is appealing [THE FROZEN LAKE is a personal favourite], but she never really tackled science fiction. If my own novel reminds you of her writing then I have succeeded.
