Lewis D. Ludwig

Lew Ludwig is the Benjamin Barney Chair of Mathematics at Denison University and Co-Director of the Great Lakes Colleges Association Consortium for Teaching and Learning. A mathematician by training and a teacher at heart, he now spends much of his time helping faculty across the country make sense of generative AI — not by cheerleading the technology, but by treating it as a shared challenge that educators are better equipped to navigate than they may think.

His work draws on learning science, faculty development, and the honest conversations that happen when educators are given permission to be skeptical and curious at the same time. He is co-author, with Todd Zakrajsek, of The Science of Learning Meets AI: A Practical Faculty Guide.

When he is not on the road consulting, he is teaching linear algebra, tinkering with standards-based grading, and finding excuses to reference Tolkien in professional settings.
