Stuart Welch spent twenty-five years at the heart of the UK investment industry. Not advising on it from the outside, but running the businesses that millions of ordinary people invest through every day.

As Global Head of Personal Investing at Fidelity International, he was responsible for the investment experience of one of the UK's largest retail investment platforms. Before that, he was Chief Executive of TD Direct Investing and Chief Executive of NatWest Stockbrokers. He has also served as a Non-Executive Director of TISA UK, the industry body that represents the savings and investment sector.

In other words, he has seen how the industry works from the inside. The products. The platforms. The way information gets simplified, complicated, marketed and sometimes obscured. And the gap — consistent, frustrating and entirely unnecessary — between what the industry knows about investing and what it actually tells its customers.

The Simple Investing series is his attempt to close that gap.

Each book in the series takes a topic that the financial services industry has made more complicated than it needs to be, and explains it the way a knowledgeable friend would — plainly, honestly and without jargon. No agenda. No product to sell. Just the information you need to make good decisions about your money.
