P M Emerson

I am an English print journalist and have worked across the country as a reporter, feature writer, and sub-editor. I was design and content editor of The Journal, Lincolnshire, Northcliffe’s flagship county magazine, and after taking redundancy, worked as a freelance feature writer and production journalist. I became involved with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, helping prepare patient information documents, which led to invitations to join the steering committees of randomised controlled medical studies as a lay member. Throughout, I have been interested in how decisions made by leaders far away impact on the voiceless people who must live with those pronouncements. Suppression, my first book, reflects that interest, focusing on the extremes to which normally compliant people may go if pushed too far. A mother of two and a grandmother, I left Lincolnshire after being widowed, and moved to Surrey, where I continue to write.
