Michael Cormier

Michael D. Cormier is a healthcare operations leader, author, and founder of the Operational Leadership Institute. With nearly 25 years of experience in radiology and imaging, he has advanced from frontline clinical practice as a radiologic technologist to supervisory, management, and director-level leadership in complex healthcare environments. He holds an MBA and focuses his work on practical leadership, operational improvement, staff development, and safer, more effective systems of patient care.

Michael is the author of “Operational Leadership in Healthcare: What They Don’t Teach You Before You Get the Title” and “Leadership Is a Response.” His writing draws from the real pressures leaders face—staffing challenges, competing priorities, organizational change, difficult conversations, and decisions that cannot always wait for perfect conditions.

He is also the creator of the Operational Leadership Response Profile, a development framework built around six leadership response modes: Navigator, Catalyst, Architect, Connector, Developer, and Steward.
