D. R. WhaleTail, AKA Roland Gabriel, AKA Rolo, is a storyteller inspired by music, family, and imagination. What began over 20 years ago as a song written with the band C.H.I. CLUB—and later recorded with the author’s children, Nova and Von—evolved into Watch Out, Mr. Hammerhead!, a colorful children’s book full of humor, heart, and ocean adventure.

Based in Hawaii, D. R. WhaleTail creates stories that spark curiosity, laughter, and creativity in young readers. Through Duck Island Publishing, the mission is simple: make stories kids love—and parents don’t mind reading again and again.
