Recently, someone from Canada wanted to know how I started Austin Baseball League and why?

First of all, as a former school teacher I love children. And if you are going to play, Coach, manage or even umpire it's important to understand that you're dealing with human beings who can be a handful, yet shy and even quiet.

I have coached kids as young as two up to teenagers and young adults and regardless of their age the fundamentals of baseball are still the same

In watching kids play from one level to another level is not always an easy one. With much to learn, expensive equipment, new coaches players often have that “huh” look.

This is why I wrote a series of books to help the coaches and parents make this transition better.

My first book, “If you can't have fun playing baseball then perhaps you can have fun playing checkers”.An Intuitive and Intellectual way of playing baseball for the novice player age 3-5. (In book stores now like Amazon).

My second book, “Baseball is more than a game - Manners, Civility and Integrity or the lack thereof”

This book is for players age 6-12 and is expected to be out this Summer.

My third book is like book One, but for players 6-12 and were hoping for this year

And my last book will be for players age 13-16, which will be about what I call The Golden Years, which is the most important, because here a player must decide to keep playing or try something else

And how did I start Austin Baseball League, well with lots of grit, hard work, help along the way and last but most important having Faith.
