Fred Ephraim

Fred Ephraim was born in Brooklyn, New York, and educated in New York City. Throughout his life he has pursued a wide range of professions and passions, including work as a psychotherapist, sociologist, school teacher, martial artist, dancer, actor, farmer, fitness trainer, massage therapist, and competitive basketball player. He has travelled extensively, and along the way he has met many interesting, and wonderful people; many of whom have effected the content and unique style of his writing. These diverse experiences have greatly influenced his storytelling and creative perspective.

Fred’s journey into writing began during his career as a professional actor and member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors’ Equity, where he performed in stage plays, television shows, films, and commercials. Early in his acting career, he noticed that many of the roles he hoped to portray simply did not exist in the scripts he was offered. Rather than wait for those stories to appear, he decided to write them himself. Fred prides himself as an "Insinuator", it's a self-imposed title. He calls it participant observation, where he injects, and insiuates heretofore absent figures, men and women of African descent, into historical stories, and allows their likeness to influence the stories journey.

Fred is the author of four published novels: Kelsey’s Quest, Percy’s Plunder, Birds of a Feather, and the most recent, My Name Is Etta. He has also completed additional works, including two memoirs Remember the Sabbath and The Pandemic Musings of a Cloistered Soul as well as I, Methuselah, and Colliding Storms, which are the soon to be published, second, and third installments, after "Etta", in The Way of Secrets trilogy.

For Fred, writing is both a creative exploration and a deeply personal process, drawing inspiration from the many experiences, people, and stories that have shaped his life. He dares to expose the reader to as many what if's as possible. He believes in throwing the dice, and seeing what comes up. Enjoy!
