Michael Dominick

Michael Dominick has been writing code since he was a kid. What came next was the unexpected part: he went to college and studied Medieval Literature.

It turned out to be one of the better decisions he made. Learning to read Chaucer carefully, to argue from a text, to take old things seriously as living things: those habits quietly shaped the kind of developer and thinker he became. He just did not know it yet.

Even while in college, he came back to software the way most working developers actually build their careers: by shipping things, breaking things, and figuring out what went wrong. That path led to founding The Mad Botter Inc., where he helps enterprises modernize legacy systems and integrate AI into real-world workflows, and to hosting Coder Radio, one of the longest-running software development podcasts on the internet, now past 600 episodes.

Code & Pilgrims: A Developer's Canterbury is the book that grew out of all of it. It is for developers who came up the same way he did: without a formal CS roadmap, but with real instincts earned through shipping software. And it uses the text he studied in college as its framework for asking what craft, judgment, and professional identity look like in an era when AI can write the code but cannot tell you whether it should.

He lives and works in the Tampa Bay area of Florida.
