Michele Bush is a digital forensics expert and owner of Loehrs Forensics, LLC, a firm specializing in digital forensics, located at 1505 North Central Avenue, Suite 111, Phoenix, Arizona 85004. Bush grew up entrenched in the world of digital forensics and has been involved in many aspects of the company since its founding in 1999 by Tami Loehrs. Since 2012, she’s been conducting forensic examinations at state and federal facilities nationwide, building on her previous experience of in-house digital forensics examinations including evidence acquisition, forensic analysis and report preparation. Bush is knowledgeable of industry standard forensic methodologies, procedures and tools, and proficient in the use of industry leading forensic tools from Cellebrite, Magnet Forensics, X-Ways, LexisNexis, OpenText, Access Data, Recon and many others.
Bush holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Arizona and Associate Degrees in Arts and Science from Pima Community College. She has completed extensive forensics training including courses with OpenText (formerly Guidance Software), Cellebrite, Exterro (formerly Access Data), McAfee Institute, X-Ways Forensics, and the Information Assurance Certification Review Board. To qualify for forensic training and certifications, Bush was subjected to numerous background checks, assessments, written tests, and practical exams simulating real investigations. As a result of her collective training and testing, Bush holds vendor-neutral certifications including Certified Expert in Cyber Investigation (CECI), Certified Computer Examiner (CCE), Certified Computer Forensics Examiner (CCFE), and Certified Mobile Forensics Examiner (CMFE) demonstrating proficiency in cyber investigations and the practice of digital forensics. Bush also holds vendor-specific certifications including Certified Cellebrite Operator (CCO), Certified Cellebrite Physical Analyst (CCPA), EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE), and Access Data Certified Examiner (ACE) demonstrating proficiency in industry standard forensic tools. In addition, she holds a private investigator agency license in the State of Arizona.
Bush is actively involved in the digital forensics community as a member of the International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners (ISFCE), the Scientific Working Group on Digital Evidence (SWGDE), the Forensic Expert Witness Association (FEWA), and the National Association of Public Defense (NAPD). ISFCE is an internationally recognized private organization that conducts research and development into emerging technologies and methods in the science of computer forensics. Members are only admitted upon passing the uncompromised Certified Computer Examiner certification process for the competency and ethical standards for forensic computer examiners. SWGDE is a non-profit organization consisting of a maximum of 100 members from law enforcement, academic, and commercial organizations actively engaged in the field of digital forensics to develop cross-disciplinary guidelines and standards for the recovery, preservation, and examination of digital evidence. Members are only admitted in a majority vote by the committee. FEWA is a non-profit professional membership organization that verifies its members have testified as an expert witness in at least three cases.
Bush has worked on hundreds of cases involving electronic evidence including matters related to electronic evidence in criminal and civil litigation, including fraud, intellectual property theft, violent crimes, cyber investigations, CyberTipline Reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and others. She has reviewed hundreds of federal and state affidavits, search warrants, search warrant returns, and pleadings prepared by law enforcement and attorneys relating to law enforcement investigations. Bush has testified as an expert in state and federal court throughout the country.
