David Owen-Bard

David Owen-Bard is an author, filmmaker, and explorer of the living relationship between land, memory, and human transformation. His work blends memoir, natural philosophy, and storytelling to explore how modern people can rediscover presence, meaning, and belonging through encounters with the natural world.

His first book, The Stag Who Dreams: A Journey Into Memory, Land, and Awakening, chronicles a deeply personal journey through trauma, recovery, and the quiet wisdom found in wilderness. In the book, David reflects on how a near-fatal moment and the lingering effects of PTSD led him back to the mountains, where healing unfolded not through dramatic breakthroughs but through small acts of attention to the land.

David continues this exploration in The Stag Who Stands, the second volume in a trilogy that traces the human movement from inward searching to embodied presence, and eventually to outward invitation in the forthcoming The Stag Who Calls. Across these works, he invites readers to rediscover something many cultures once understood: that the natural world is not merely scenery, but a teacher.

In addition to his writing, David is the founder of Echoes & Ember Productions, a transmedia studio focused on stories that reconnect people with landscape, history, and ancestral memory. His creative work spans documentary film, books, and long-form storytelling projects exploring traditional knowledge, myth, and human resilience.

He lives in Colorado, where much of his writing is shaped by time spent in the mountains and forests with his dog Ranger.
